Over the last few years, the N series has established itself as the premier front runner of the Nokia brand. The N79, though not the latest offering in the series, really is quite a challenging model. It is a rather thin piece of metal, and boasts of the smart looks, which are typical of the N series.
It includes a sensor which changes the direction of the screen with change in the holding position, an old, yet common feature in the Nokia N series. However, it does tend to get a little irritating after a while, and is a major cause of quick battery discharge. The set also comes with a 5 MP camera with Carl- Zeiss lenses and flash. A 3.5mm jack and 3 back covers of different colours come with the phone. Replace a cover with another, and the theme colour changes accordingly- a slick feature. A VGA camera up front enabling video conferencing.

It has a 83MB phone memory, which may be a little too less for the phone’s own good. However, a slightly different feature in the looks department, is a nice little sliding camera cover with the camera. The battery, a 1200 mAh Lithium ion battery, a BL 6F is a pretty decent one.

As far as the other features are concerned, the music library is, yet again, true to its name, very much, an N series. As such, it does not offer much in the music library department, other than separately showing the songs artist wise, album wise, genre wise. It also has a separate folder managing the videos on the phone.
There are do it yourself themes which you can make and edit yourself. Also included, is the NGAGE game software and you can add or remove NGAGE games to your profile online. Also included is a separate option for random search on google. This application also has a direct link with the music library, messages, email, contacts, in a nutshell, every must-have which is on your phone. The N79 is Bluetooth enabled, Wi-Fi enabled, has a good packet data transfer speed. The soft keys and direction buttons are fair enough, if not a little hard. It has a separate menu button and a simple keypad.
Finally, a relatively simple, yet classy finishing is given to this phone. A fine corporate look, and all this at 302.99$ on Amazon.

Nokia N79

Over the last few years, the N series has established itself as the premier front runner of the Nokia brand. A 3.1 jack and 3 back covers of different colours come with the phone. Replace a cover with another, and the theme colour changes accordingly- a slick feature. A VGA camera up front, is quite simply, a repetition of what every single N series phone has on offer. Almost makes you wonder, if buying a 40,000 INR N96 is worth it or not, when you have most of the same features( except of course the screen size), in a phone which costs about 16,000 INR!!

It has a 83MB phone memory, which may be a little too less for the phone’s own good. However, a slightly different feature in the looks department, is a nice little sliding camera cover with the camera. The battery, a 1200 mAh Lithium ion battery, a BL 6F is a pretty decent one.

Finally, a relatively simple, yet classy finishing is given to this phone. A fine corporate look, but ultimately, the same features as the ones in its predecessors, makes this quite the average buy. Perhaps, this is the right time for Nokia to finally call it a day for a series which has certainly revolutionized it’s industry, if not the phone market as a whole.
